Further information
Course attendance is strongly recommended: the overall organisation is designed to integrate a guided part of the work on the manuals with an active part of the students who will be encouraged to work in groups and take part in discussions.
Type of Assessment
The evaluation of the attending student includes a series of tests announced during the lessons including oral presentations supported by a Power Point presentation prepared from books and/or articles of scientific literature. In the oral presentation, the student will have to demonstrate the ability to analyse the selected economic literature, the ability to synthesise and the ability to communicate both through images and orally the content of his/her research on the chosen topic. The texts will be selected on the basis of the teacher's recommendation and the student's brief bibliographic research. The duration of the presentation depends on the number of participants and will be fixed during the lessons.
The final evaluation will take into account the activity shown during the lessons and the quality of the tests proposed and taken.
Non-attending students will only take a written examination with three open questions, each taken from the following three texts:
1) first 10 chapters of the above textbook (Stiglitz/Rosengard).
2) Fioramonti L., Il mondo dopo il PIL, Edizioni ambiente.
3) chapter 3 of the text: Economy, Society, and Public Policy, CORE.
In the written test, the student must demonstrate familiarity with and knowledge of the course content, the ability to organise the knowledge acquired and to express it in appropriate language.
